Ruby Bhogal comes down to Walters Arena, V-FORCE HQ for a day at James Bond style Spy School.

Updated: Jul 22, 2022

At V-FORCE, we love James Bond movies! We were delighted to host TV celebrity chef, Ruby Bhogal at V-FORCE for a day of James Bond style training to coincide with the release of the long-awaited Daniel Craig Bond film, No Time to Die.

Ruby is a TV chef who regularly presents on Channel 4’s daytime TV show, Steph’s Packed Lunch. She’s also a huge fan of Bond films and wanted to spend a day at spy school to learn some of James Bond 007’s skills.

We put together a bespoke training package to teach her three of the coolest Bond skills: evasive driving, pistol skills and unarmed combat. The clip aired on Steph’s Packed Lunch, Channel 4, at 12:30 on Thursday 30 September 2021.

To kick the day off our chief rally and advanced driving instructor, pro-rally champion Cameron Davies put the Great British Bake off finalist Ruby through an intensive car handling course.

This training took Ruby through some of the key manoeuvres that would be needed throughout the day. This included J Turns, Handbrake turns and more. This was done in the vehicle, but if required, V-FORCE have simulators available for practice.

After the initial training was concluded, Ruby had to conduct surveillance from her car against a hostile vehicle. Before she knew it, her cover was blown, this quickly lead into a surprise attack. Following this, Ruby needed to escape by putting her vehicle into a fast reverse, perform a J-turn and continuing through an obstacle course using handbrake turns and rally-style handling to reach safety.

Next was pistol training, Instructed by former Royal Marines Commando and SBS operator, Tony Hayes Founder of SF1 Strength. Tony coached her through the basics of gun safety, handling and accurate shooting from various fire positions before progressing to a tactical scenario. This tactical scenario involved moving through the V-FORCE kill house and engaging targets on the move.

Finally, Ruby was all set to move to the unarmed combat training phase to learn some basic sparring and weapon defences, culminating in pistol disarms from multiple attackers. Tony, together with MMA fighter and stuntman, Jon Hunt, had a highly intensive programme of training prepared. However, delays due to the filming meant we had to scrub this final element in order to prioritise the production of the clip. Don’t worry, Ruby, you’re welcome to come back and join us for the unarmed combat training another time!

If you want to learn the coolest and most exhilarating Bond skills, V-FORCE deliver a number of tactical driving and special ops skills training experiences. Undoubtedly the best days out you can do.
